Christmas Canvas

Hi Nice to see you here today.  This is a canvas that I have used a wood grain stencil, gesso, gelatos and distress inks on to give it a  barn board look.

Each year I try to come up with a new idea for a new Christmas decoration. This canvas will look beautiful hanging on a wall or standing on a easel.

The Clock w/Angel Wing is off to the right cut in black and using Inka Golds to color it up giving it a metal look. This clock is one of my favorite CLD dies.  The Old Barn Board  was used as a base to layer the Merry Christmas  to. The  Hinges were added to the edge of the barn board.

Here I layered the image, the Oval Classic - Silver Stackers  and the Royal Scandinavian Oval Doily as my focal point. I added the  Whistle a Happy Tune  colored with Inka  Golds. The Poinsettia 2  was layered using the greenery off the Merry Christmas  around it. The tag with 2015 is from the Love Tags . I place the Garden Bench  in the bottom corner with one of the tiny flowers from the Tiny Flower Kit . Again I used the Inka Golds on the wrought iron of the bench. I added a few white dots here and there to give it a snowy look. Well that is it for this week. I hope I have inspired you to play with a canvas.

Vintage Christmas Tags

It is so nice to see you here today. I would like to take a minute to say thanks all our viewers who take the time to leave  comments. It is really appreciated. So Thank You. Now for this weeks project. I was inspired by our weekly challenge theme "Tag Your It" and decided to follow along. It is always nice to make your own personal tags to attach to the gifts for those special people in your lives.

I love the vintage look so I created a set of three simple but elegant vintage tags using only five dies. All the bases were cut from a aqua printed paper and  paired with kraft paper. All were inked up with distress ink. I embossed here and there with the chunky metal embossing powder so that there where areas with no embossing and  then inked them areas where the embossing was missed. This gives it a dimensional look with out the metal embossing looking too chunky if you know what I mean.

For this tag I used one of the Pierced Stacker #2 for the base. Don't you just love the stitching around this die.  The Merry Christmas  is from the  Crafty Ann  collection.

The base of this tag is Circle - Scalloped LG Stackers Nesting Dies . I have left the wreath off set a bit so you can see the nice line edge around the scallop which gives it another dimension without layering it. The Joy to the World Wreath set I cut twice. I layered one wreath on top of the other to create more fullness, The sentiment from that set was place in the center.

This tag was made from one die set which is the Bow and Bell . The bow cuts out as a outline so I just attached it to paper and fussy cut around it. So you can get two different looks with this bow, by backing it as I have done or leave it as a outline only. I embellished all three tags with aqua bling .

I hope I have inspired you today with these tags. They are so pretty that you could even hang them on your tree as a decoration year after year.

Steampunk Christmas Layout

Nice to see you here today.   This week I was wanting to play with the Crafts Ann's steampunk dies from Cheery Lynn Designs but also wanting to do a Christmas layout as Christmas just around the corner now.  So I decided to mix dies that I wouldn't normally use together and I just love the results. Sometimes it is good to work out of the box and venture doing something different.

I started with a piece of kraft cardstock and spritzed it with water and crinkled it up a few times to get a nice texture . I then rubbed a ink pad over it and spritzed it again to make the ink move around and blend. I matted it with black. I then took a piece of map paper and torn it round the edges a little and inked it to give it a old look. That was my base done  ready to add die cuts to make my layout. The sentiment Christmas Wish is from the Merry Christmas Set and the Make a Wish Phrases .

I cut the Frame and layered it onto the map. All the steampunk dies were colors with Inka Gold to give them a nice metal look. This Frame set is awesome as the center has gears, nuts, bolt, wrench, screwdriver and chain cut outs making it great die set for men and boy cards. The Old Car  was cut three times. The first one I left as my base to build on. The second one I cut the tires off and put silver paper behind to give a chrome look to the cuts outs. The third one I cut the tires off again and embossed the car body with Micro black embossing powder to give it a nice paint job. When all assembled the tires sit back in a little like the real thing. Got to love this old car too.

Here is a photo of the corner using the Corner #3  with the wrench and screw driver beside it from the frame set.  The Poinsettia Strip   and Holly Leaves  were layered on top.

This is the top corner. The poinsettia's were cut from burgundy velvet paper and the centers were gears tiny gears from the Gears and Frame  set. There tiny gears make great centers for the poinsettia's. The poinsettias were layered onto the Snowflake 2.  The gear strip along the top is the Border #15 . The clock it from the Romantic set. I used silver liquid pearls in the centers also and on some of the gears for rivets.

Thank you for stopping by today. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think of the steampunk and Christmas dies used together.
I challenge you this week to play with different combo's of dies that you wouldn't normally use together and see what you come up with.

3D Box Card

A warm hello to all you Cheery Lynn  fans.   I was at a crop last weekend and did a "make and take" to learn how to make this 3D box style card.  So I am excited to share with you today my version of a 3D box card that I created using CLD dies.

This box styled card is 1 1/2 inches wide and has two pieces of cardstock spaced out inside the box to attach designs too. I used the largest of the Pierced Stacker #4 to cut out the front as well as cutting the same design in the two inside cardstock pieces so they matched up.

It is hard to tell in the photo but in the box I mounted the Grass Border 2 and Deer in the Forest  at the front of the first layer. The Ornament Christmas Tree  is mounted to the front of the second layer and the Dancing Snow Flurries to the back of the second layer.  Thus making the deer close and the tree and snowflakes farther back. All designs were cut from the glittery "Pow" paper. The balls on the tree were colored with copics. The pow paper worked good for the deer as I was able to leave the inside cut outs in place  rather that pop them out . I wanted all the designs to be sparkley. The three snowflakes on the top left corner are from cut from the Snowflakes die. Bling was added.

This is the top corner of the box and the Paris Signs 2 made a nice design for this top corner.
This box card also folds down flat for putting into a envelope.

I invite you to join our challenge @ http://cheerylynndesigns.blogspot.ca/search/label/challenge for your chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Please leave a comment before you go if you have the time.
Have a crafty week and I will be back next Friday with another design. .
